Windows 7

Windows 7 Lineup
Windows 7 is the newest product in Microsoft's operating system lineup. It was officially released on July 22nd, 2009, with the general public release on October 22nd, 2009. Different from its predecessor, Windows Vista, it is not an all-new development. Rather, it builds substantially on the Vista core, and introduces numerous improvements and upgrades. It is explicitly designed to be completely backwards compatible with Vista applications.
Windows 7 includes various new features, e.g. better touch and handwriting recognition, improved multicore processor performance, a faster boot time, and a number of kernel improvements. Furthermore, Windows 7 adds support for several different graphics cards from different vendors, and a new version of Windows Media Center.
The Windows taskbar is perhaps the component which has changed most, from those visible to the user. Instead of Quick Launch, it is now possible to pin applications to the taskbar. Finally, a much-awaited feature, the new taskbar also makes it possible to reorder taskbar buttons. Different from Windows Vista, if a window is maximized, borders and taskbar do not become opaque, but stay transparent.See also:
